What will you be doing during your week off for Spring Break? Would you like to learn camping skills in the great outdoors? Then stop by at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands & World Birding Center (EWBC) for a great opportunity of family fun in nature. Outdoor Camping Skills Week will be a seven day spring break you won?t want to miss. Outdoor Camping Skills Week will be from Monday, March 9th thru Sunday, March 22nd, 2015. We welcome participants, of all ages and skill levels, to share an experience of hands-on activities and environmental responsibilities. On Monday find out what it takes to stay safe outside then practice setting up a tent. Tuesday will be all about building a campfire safely and learning of the best tools and techniques. On Wednesday, try your hand at outdoor cooking and some simple recipes to use on your campfire. Thursday will include instruction on how to identify wildlife as we take participants on a guided walk through our trails. Finally on Friday have some fun with us while learning how to fish. Classes Monday thru Friday will be held from 2 to 4 pm. On Saturday join us on a family adventure for overnight camping on the EWBC grounds. Whether you?ve attended the previous sessions or not, come out for campfire cooking, stories, night walks, games, and more. Enjoy family company under the night sky in a safe and secure environment. The family overnight camping will begin on Saturday at 4 pm and will end on Sunday at 10 am. Our supplies are limited so we encourage participants to bring any overnight camping gear they already own. Monday thru Friday class fees are $2 for EWBC members and $4 for non-members. Supplies for these classes will be provided. The family overnight camping fee is $13 for EWBC members and $15 for non-members. Meals and some supplies will be provided.
