The City of Pharr Parks and Recreation Department is proud to announce that it will be hosting the 9th Annual 5K St. Patrick?s Day Run/Walk on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. A 1 mile fun run /walk has been scheduled at 8:00 a.m. for kids ages 10 and under. Last year, over 1000 participants from the valley, as well as from across the United States and Mexico, participated in this event. The 5K race route begins on the west end of PSJA Stadium located on 709 E. Gore, runners then dash through the heart of this city, and then finish near the original starting line. Although the primary purpose of this event is to encourage physical fitness through an enjoyable health conscious recreational activity, it is also intended to promote Pharr?s increasingly charming downtown district. There will be cash prizes and trophies awarded to the top finishers, and there will also be live music and entertainment for the entire family. Online registration will be available at register.iaapweb.com and the fee is only $5. per participant, ages 17 and younger, and $10 for adults.
