STATE OF THE WORKFORCE 2011

We invite you to join us at the State of the Workforce 2011: A Call to Action conference to be held November 3-4, at the Isla Grand Beach Resort in South Padre Island, TX. This is a true regional initiative hosted by Workforce Solutions and Workforce Solutions / Cameron, in collaboration with the Rio Grande Valley Partnership and Lower Rio Grande Valley Development Council.

This conference – geared toward educators, employers, community leaders, and economic development professionals – is designed to:

• Unveil the region’s new target industries and occupations,
• Identify leveraging opportunities and create a unified voice,
• Review and update the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy, and
• Develop a regional taskforce that will work towards implementing innovative approaches that meet the region’s needs.

The Rio Grande Valley has tremendous opportunities for continued growth and improved prosperity. However, our strong population growth and the young median age of our workforce present both opportunities and challenges. What's more, the needs of the business community are changing rapidly and dramatically, and it is crucial we evolve as a region so that our economy can remain competitive and relevant.

In order to improve our standard of living and compete in a global economy, we must develop a skilled workforce that is prepared to meet the needs of the future. As a region we have demonstrated both the tenacity and commitment to identify and work towards these solutions. Please join us November 3-4, at the Isla Grand Beach Resort in South Padre Island, TX as we work together to continue to move the Rio Grande Valley forward.
