The Market location is on 'A' Street between Jackson and Monroe, behind Grimsells and in front of New York Deli.

As many of our regular clients already know, the Harlingen Farmers Market is now into its third year of operation. On Saturday January 14th, we celebrated our 100th market!

Imagine.... 100 afternoons of hard-working farmers and producers supplying residents of Harlingen and surrounding communities with the freshest locally grown food available. There is a bountiful harvest being sold every week here - come take advantage of the best Harlingen has to offer!

The Farmers Market is a place of learning - visiting with market growers on a regular basis will help you become attuned to the Valley's seasonal productivity.

Among the vegetables and fruits that are available now are lettuces, green and red mustard, baby greens, beets, cilantro, bok choy, purple and white eggplant, spinach, many varieties of citrus fruits, peppers (hot and sweet), sprouts, basil, starfruit, watermelon radishes and other radishes, hydroponically grown tomatoes, butternut squash and even some early carrots.

Eggs produced by free range chickens are in plentiful supply, and sporting an array of colors. Interested in duck eggs? Come on by. Grass-fed beef, lamb, pork, and some chicken in a variety of cuts are all available at every market. Browse also through many attractive healthy plants: locally adapted herbs, vegetables and butterfly/hummingbird-friendly varieties.

Fresh breads, creative cookies, unique jams, honey, crispy granola, a variety of salsas, pecans, walnuts and other nuts, and pickled okra are among many of the locally produced foods you'll find it a delight to choose from... come prepared for taste tests!

Take a step toward a more health-conscious lifestyle this Saturday. Remember to bring your shopping bag/basket, cash, and a cooler for your car if you intend to purchase any meat products, eggs, or perishable produce. There is so much to explore and enjoy downtown that once you are there you will want to linger. Come prepared... and be open to the moment.

New York Deli is a great place to stop in for lunch before the Market opens - they are open until 3:00. You can also fulfill your dreams for a thriving garden by shopping at Grimsells, right on the other side of the wall - you know the one, with the striking mural.

The Farmers Market is now partnering with 'Market Days', best known for the large event on Jackson Street in downtown Harlingen which takes place every first Saturday of the month. We have seen that connecting with the business-minded individuals who run Market Days brings results that enhance the quality of life in Harlingen far beyond the sum of these two entities. In other words, good things are happening!
