El Nogalar is a retelling of Anton Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. The play tells the story of the Galvan family as they return home to Mexico after years in the U.S. With the rise of drug cartels, the family must come to terms with the economic upset and the new class order quickly emerging. Dunia, the Galvan’s housekeeper, watches Maité and her daughters, Valeria and Anita, waste their money and risk losing everything to the local drug cartel.
