Texas Folklife and Larry's French Market & Cajun Restaurant are pleased to announce that our fourth Big Squeeze Talent Showcase of 2017 in Groves / Nederland, TX will take place at Larry's on Saturday, March 4, 2017. We are excited to find and showcase accordion talent! The emphasis for this showcase is CAJUN but, we are looking for accordion players ages 21 and under to showcase their performance abilities in any of the three main accordion genre categories: Polka, Cajun / Zydeco and Conjunto. The Polka genre will include German, Czech, and Polish traditions. Cajun / Zydeco will include Creole, Cajun and Zydeco musical traditions. Conjunto will include Norteño and Tejano. Please contact Texas Folklife if you are unsure under which category your music falls. All young accordionists in any of the above styles are encouraged to show up an hour before start time to register for our contest. Special musical guests Keyun Dickson and the Zydeco Masters will perform after the Contest. The event will take place from 2pm-5pm. The event is free and open to the public.
