Individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to teach others how to fish and become part of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department’s (TPWD) Volunteer Aquatic Education team will have the opportunity to become certified in the TPWD Aquatic Education Program. Individuals will learn how to: tie fishing knots, teach the proper casting stroke, use fishing equipment, gain insights into fish habitat, grasp a fuller understanding of TPWD fishing regulations, focus on local baits, tricks, tips and techniques and gain extensive knowledge on what is expected from TPWD when conducting angling education classes in one's community. This training is limited to 25-30 individuals and preregistration is required. Registrants must be 18 years of age or older and must pass a background check. Please bring a lunch, water and wear closed toe shoes. A hat and sunscreen is highly recommended.
