Hosted by the Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce, the race starts at the Port Isabel Community Center, follows a route over the Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge and makes its way to Louie's Backyard and the finish line. The 10k route offers something for both walkers and runners with the option to start at the base of the bridge in Port Isabel and ending on the South Padre Island where participants can catch a shuttle back to Port Isabel.
EARLY REGISTRATION: Before December 31, 2013, mail to Port Isabel Chamber of Commerce, 421 E. Queen Isabella Blvd., Port Isabel, TX 78578 or register in person until 5:00 pm Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014 at the Chamber office.
LATE REGISTRATION IN PERSON: Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, 5:00 to 7:00 pm., Port Isabel Community Center, 213 Yturria St. Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, 7:00 to 9:00 am, Port Isabel Community Center, 213 Yturria St. Cutoff time is 9:00 a.m. sharp. LATE FEE: Add $5.00 for runners only. No credit card use during late registration.
T-SHIRT and BIB PICK-UP: Participants may check in at the Port Isabel Chamber office, Mon. – Thurs., the week of the event or on Friday, January 10, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Saturday, January 11, 7:00 to 9:00 am at the Port Isabel Community Center, 213 Yturria St. T-Shirts are guaranteed to the first 4,500 participants to check in. Sizes cannot be guaranteed.) RUNNERS TIMING CHIPS WILL BE HANDED OUT ON FRIDAY & SATURDAY. All timing chips must be returned at the race finish line or a $15 replacement fee will be assessed.
RACE COURSE: 10K (6.2 mi.) Starts at the Port Isabel Community Center on Yturria St. Ends at the tented area, roadside, in front of Louie’s Backyard South Padre Island. One major incline. Water stations at the end of the Causeway, one other location, and at the end of the race. There will be police protection and EMS services. The run is USA Track and Field certified: Certification #TX05009WG. (See map on below)
FITNESS WALK COURSE: 3 miles. This course starts at Port Isabel Community Center, then right on Davis St., right on Musina St., left on Maxan St., right on Garcia St. and left on Highway 100. The finish line will be at the Padre Balli Statue on South Padre Island. Shuttle service will be available to the tented area in front of Louie’s Backyard to the runner’s awards ceremony or back to Port Isabel. THIS IS NOT A RACE. THIS IS A PARTICIPATION WALK. There will be no awards given to walk participants. Shuttle service is also available starting at 8:00 am, Jan. 11, from Louie’s Backyard to the Port Isabel Community Center.
AWARDS & PRESENTATIONS: CASH AWARD TO OVERALL FIRST 3 PLACES BOTH MALE & FEMALE RUNNERS! $1000- 1st; $600- 2nd; $400- 3rd! Awards will be given to the overall male and female winners as well as to first through third place winners in each male and female age division of the 10K. Overall winners will be ineligible for awards in their respective age divisions. The awards will be presented at the awards ceremony immediately following the race and scoring. FREE refreshments will be available as supplies last. SHUTTLE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE BACK TO PORT ISABEL FOR ALL RUNNERS & WALKERS. YOU MUST BE WEARING A PICC Causeway Run & Fitness numbered bib or wrist band to use the shuttle bus back to PortIsabelCommunity Center.
