DESCRIPTION:Come help out the endangered ocelot! Rio Reforestation is an event held every year by the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuges. At the event you can replant the area back to its native thornscrub forest\, the favored habitat of the elusive and highly endangered ocelot. All you have to do is show up wearing work clothes\, including gardening gloves and we'll provide the rest. Lunch and refreshments will be provided\, too!

LOCATION:This year the event will be held at the Resaca Del Rancho Viejo tract of land. Directions: Take Military Highway (HW 281) 2.5 miles east of Blue Town (FM 506) or 2.0 miles west of Las Rusias (FM 1479) to Canon Road and turn north. There is a real canon there! The USFWS property is about 800 feet north of Military Highway (HW 281).
