DESCRIPTION:5K Run or 1.2 Mile Walk to raise funds for Cystic Fibrosis (CF)Foundation. CF is a genetic disease without a cure. It is the most common inherited condition among Americans of northern and western European ancestry. One in 30 Americans are carriers of the defective CF gene. A child of 2 carriers has a 1 in 4 change of inheriting CF. CF Foundation receives no direct federal funding for research. All money is raised via events like this. We have a population of RGV patients that rely on CF care centers for specialized care. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar raised supports the mission of the foundation to find a cure.
