SUMMARY:Carlos Morton's play "Frontera Sin Fin"
DESCRIPTION:"Frontera Sin Fin/Endless Border" by Carlos Morton is the new one act-play (in Spanish) to be presented by the Pharr Community Theater Company from August 21 through August 31 in Pharr. (8 shows total) The story is about Olegario "El Tanque" Luj n\, a young man\, who is originally from Catemaco\, Veracruz\, who now lives in Arizona and works at a restaurant. He left his hometown with dreams of returning one day to build a huge grocery store for his mother instead of the street stand she now operates\, but he has no legal documentation and like millions of other undocumented workers he struggles not only with the fear of deportation but also with low wages\, poor housing\, loss of Identity and in having left behind the girl he promised to marry.\n\n \n\nThe author Carlos Morton recently said\, "I wrote Frontera Sin Fin because of the continuous problems we face along the highly militarized border that separates and divides our two nations\, and I hope this puts a human face on the fate of the faceless masses yearning to breathe free." \n\n \n\nLuc a Mac as\, who is directing the 8 local actors in her first play for the company\, said she's delighted in collaborating experiences and in staging Carlos Morton's play. Having worked in Mexico's theater for nearly 16 years\, she studied with the CADAC dramatic institute in Coyoac n and learned under the intensive guidance of theater professors\, Rabindranath Espinosa and Carlos Azar. "As soon as I read the script\, I knew I would experiment with a simple set and rely more on strong performances from the actors and with lights and sounds"\, added Mac as. \n\n \n\nThe newest actors to the theater company are Iv n Orozco who plays Olegario and Judith Luna who plays his mother\, Paulina. Both have been in rehearsals since early July and aside from accomplishing their dream of acting\, they are both excited to appear on the promotional poster and for the play. "To play the role of the mother\, I pull her character traits from deep within myself and from my sub conscious and I bring her to life\, sometimes abandoning myself all together for the performance\," added actress Judith Luna.
