DESCRIPTION:Doctors Hospital at Renaissance is excited to announce that it will host the 8th Annual Rio Grande Valley ?Brave the Shave for Kids with Cancer? event on February 28\, 2016. Hosted at the Edinburg Conference Center at Renaissance from 1:15 ? 4:00 PM\, ?Brave the Shave? is the St. Baldrick?s Foundation signature head-shaving event where more than 100 people are expected to shave their heads in solidarity with kids with cancer to raise money for lifesaving research. The St. Baldrick?s Foundation is a volunteer-powered organization dedicated to raising money for children?s cancer research. Every 3 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer\; one in five won?t survive\, and those who do often suffer long-term effects from treatments too harsh for their developing bodies. Kids are special\, and at St. Baldrick?s they treat them that way. From its beginnings\, St. Baldrick?s has believed that kids deserve the chance to be kids ? fun-loving\, carefree\, refreshingly honest\, and always a little goofy ? and deserve the chance at a future. That?s why donations raised at events like the Doctors Hospital at Renaissance ?Brave the Shave for Kids with Cancer? have made it possible for St. Baldrick?s to fund more than $178 million to support the development of childhood cancer treatments that are as unique as every kid. Doctors Hospital at Renaissance?s ?Brave the Shave for Kids with Cancer? will feature the showcase head-shaving event with local professional barbers\, as well as a raffle\, a kid?s area with clowns\, face painting\, and crafts with Dr. Ted E.
