History of the Rio Grande Valley through Historical Structures Through photographs of historic structures of the Rio Grande Valley, Pino Shah will take you on a historical visual journey through his book, Architecture of the Lower Rio Grande Valley: An Introduction. This book celebrates the architecture of the Texas-Mexico border region, its craftsmen, its cultures and its climate. The architectural images by Pino Shah provide an expedition through 160 years of history and heritage, revealing the border’s built environment as filtered through diverse cultures. Shah also created the book ‘Quinta Mazatlan: A Visual Journey’ in collaboration with writer Eileen Mattei. Using photographs and discussion, the two will direct your attention to unique elements of the Mansion with a Mission and its history. Pino Shah, a world heritage photographer, and freelancer Eileen Mattei, who writes about nature and history for Texas magazines will take you on an incredible visual journey across the Rio Grande Valley.
